About the Role

The Home Support Worker (HSW) plays a vital role in our community, providing holistic and quality care to our residents. As an integral member of our team, the HSW will follow established personal service plans, provide personal care, and respond to call bell alarms. They will also observe and monitor residents' progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes, reporting significant observations.

Responsibilities

  • Follow established personal service plans.
  • Provide personal care, including medication assistance, bathing, grooming, dressing, and assisting with meals.
  • Respond to call bell alarms.
  • Observe and monitor residents' progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes.
  • Involves residents in organizing and maintaining their home environment.
  • Encourages and assists residents to participate in social, physical, spiritual, and recreational activities.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of community policies and procedures.
  • Attends and participates in community and education programs.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Graduate from a recognized Care Aide Program.
  • Active registration with the British Columbia Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
  • Valid First Aid Level 1 certification and current CPR.
  • Medication Administration Certification required.
  • Previous experience in a care community preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
  • All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
  • Must be in good health, physically able to perform repetitive tasks, lift, squat, bend, stand, and walk as required.
