Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Physician to join our team as a Healthcare Advocate for Youth. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people aged 12-24, who face complex physical and psychosocial challenges.

Salary and Benefits

This contract position offers a competitive salary of $45 per hour (ARP rate), with opportunities for professional growth and development. As a valued member of our team, you will have access to comprehensive benefits, including medical liability insurance coverage and affiliation with a Primary Care Network (PCN).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide full scope primary care to clients aged 12-24, including infants and children of youth clients.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including LPNs, mental health clinicians, and social workers.
  • Facilitate and support allied health team members to work to their full scope of practice.
  • Respond to acute concerns, such as fluctuating behavior, drug poisoning, and active suicidal ideation.
  • Potentially prescribe OAT and practice addiction medicine.
  • Work with clients who bring complex mental health concerns and complex psychosocial circumstances.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Member in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
  • Affiliation with a Primary Care Network (PCN) or willingness to join a PCN.
  • 2+ years of experience working with youth, vulnerable populations, sexual and reproductive health, and/or LGBTQ2S+ communities.
  • Comfort with prenatal care, addictions medicine, and gender-affirming care in the LGBTQ2S+ community.
