We are seeking an experienced Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at HEC Group.
About the RoleThis is a senior-level position that will play a critical role in promoting a strong loss control mindset across our organization. As an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for creating and executing strategies to minimize accidents and incidents, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities- Develop and implement comprehensive risk management strategies and controls to minimize workplace hazards.
- Lead risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with various departments to address potential hazards and risks, and lead efforts to meet Environmental, Health, and Safety targets.
- Create, review, and update health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure effective communication of health and safety policies to all employees, and provide guidance on adherence to these policies.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents and accidents, and prepare reports for regulatory agencies as required.
- Participate in cross-functional investigations of workplace accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Human Resources, Business, or Kinesiology.
- Occupational Health and Safety Certification.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in health and safety risk management, with a proven track record in developing and implementing safety programs.
- In-depth knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations in Canada and the USA.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a collaborative management style and ability to provide direction effectively.
The estimated annual salary for this position is $85,000 - $110,000 CAD, depending on experience and qualifications.
