Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Security Guard to join our team at the EHN Complex Needs Emergency Facility in Saskatoon. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring CCTV systems, conducting site patrols, and responding to emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond promptly and effectively to calls for service, utilizing de-escalation techniques and appropriate intervention strategies.
  • Adhere to the policy of least restraint, utilizing restraints only as a last resort.
  • Conduct proactive foot patrols, spot checks, and surveillance to ensure a safe environment.
  • Provide support for clients with acute detox and mental health concerns, utilizing specialized training in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Inventory client belongings, remove contraband, and catalogue dangerous weapons.
  • Monitor security cameras and secure facility entrances and offices.
  • Manage key control and physical access procedures, conducting daily facility inspections to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor fire systems, assist with emergency preparedness, and call codes when necessary.
  • Provide training to new employees and familiarize them with work processes.
Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 license and personal vehicle for transportation.
  • Saskatchewan Security Guard Certificate, successful completion of the Saskatchewan Security Guard Training Course, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year of security experience, loss prevention, or investigations, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Certification or training in mental health crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques is an asset.
  • Ability to work evening, weekend, and overnight shifts.
  • Ability to remain calm and in control during emergencies.
  • Proficiency in using various computer programs, including MS Office, and willingness to learn new programs.
