Job Description

We're seeking an experienced business development manager to join our Partnerships team in Canada. As a Strategic Partnerships Manager, you will represent Square's brand in Canada and help develop and deploy our Canadian strategy. Your responsibilities will include scoping out potential partnerships, negotiating contracts, and building and growing deep relationships with external parties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source, sign, and manage partners to drive Square's growth in Canada
  • Develop and maintain relationships with a broad set of partners, including large strategic opportunities with major organizations and scaling our partner program for independent software and service providers
  • Measure success against a set of KPIs, including growth of the partner ecosystem, new customers acquired via partners, and adoption of partners' solutions by customers
  • Understand Square's company strategy and communicate the value of Square's brand and product ecosystem
  • Build deep relationships with internal and external stakeholders to grow Square's relationships with strategic partners
  • Manage all aspects of the relationship with partners, from initial scoping and negotiation to prioritization and execution of strategic projects, financial assessment and forecasting, and ongoing partner management

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional experience in strategic business development, product management, and/or partnerships experience, with experience in signing new partners
  • Experience evaluating opportunities with regard to impact on strategy, brand, finance, and operations
  • A compelling and inspired vision and sense of common purpose, with a willingness to look beyond what's possible today
  • Built successful relationships with external parties, worked with executives and senior leadership to explore new opportunities
  • Managed projects with multiple stakeholders, set clear milestones, and held people (and self) accountable to goals
  • A successful track record of managing complex deals and cross-functional projects
  • Experience building and managing relationships with senior business leaders, both internally and externally
  • Experience working cross-functionally with a range of teams, managing initiatives at scale, and delivering on results

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. Canada locations are categorized into one of two zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: CAD $109,300 - CAD $163,900

Zone B: CAD $105,400 - CAD $158,200

Depending on the cost of labor in the relevant geographic area, state work locations that are approximately 50 Kilometers outside of the metro area listed may be aligned to a different zone. These zones may be modified in the future. Please speak with a recruiter for additional information.
