Job Summary:

We are seeking a Teaching Assistant to support our Common Law program for the winter semester. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading tutorial sessions, preparing students for exams, and assisting the professor with administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, experience in teaching or tutoring, and the ability to work independently and creatively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead tutorial sessions and provide guidance to students
  • Prepare students for exams and provide additional support
  • Assist the professor with administrative tasks and course preparation
  • Act as a mentor to students and provide support with their transition to law studies

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (MPC of 7.0 or higher)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in teaching or tutoring
  • Ability to use technology for educational purposes
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment
  • Knowledge of the challenges faced by students seeking equity in the academic context
  • Excellent academic record (A- or higher) in the relevant field
  • Previous experience as a student in the JD program at the University of Ottawa or equivalent

All University of Ottawa employees are required to complete mandatory training programs. The list of training requirements may be modified by provincial law.
