Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Risk Engineering Specialist to join our team in Toronto. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for cultivating long-term partnerships with key accounts by delivering risk engineering services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a deep technical understanding of our insured's businesses to enable world-class insurance engineering services.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of complex risks, focusing on equipment, processes, and operations.
  • Lead and participate in on-site risk evaluations and field surveys, including interviewing key site personnel to gather critical insights.
  • Review and analyze technical data and reports to identify hazards and deficiencies, recommending practical risk improvement solutions to reduce exposures.
  • Collaborate with Underwriters and Claims Adjusters, providing expert engineering opinions, calculations, and loss estimates.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in chemical, mechanical, electrical disciplines or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 7+ years of experience in heavy industry, with exposure to design, maintenance, construction, operation or field services within renewable, power, mining, chemical, nuclear, oil & gas, or manufacturing industries.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles and plant operations, with the ability to identify and quantify potential risks.
  • Skilled in interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation, with proficiency in report writing and MS Office applications.
  • Exceptional oral, written, and presentation skills to communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
