Snowmaking Operations Manager

Vail Resorts seeks a seasoned professional to lead the snowmaking department at Whistler Blackcomb. As Snowmaking Manager, you will provide direction and leadership to a team of snowmakers, ensuring the efficient and safe operation of snowmaking equipment year-round.

This role involves overseeing maintenance, capital projects, potable water delivery, and system construction of all related infrastructure. You will also be responsible for hiring, training, and managing a team of snowmakers, as well as problem-solving various issues that may arise.

A successful candidate will have a strong background in on-mountain operations, supervisory experience, and a valid driver's license. They will also possess general computer skills, including Microsoft Office and VR software programs.

As a leader in the company, this person will embody the Whistler Blackcomb safety culture and help develop it further. They will also identify and develop talent and leadership on the snowmaking team, and ensure succession planning is in place.

The ideal candidate will have advanced skiing or snowboarding skills, be able to withstand inclement weather conditions for extended periods, and work day, midnight shifts, weekends depending on need. They will also be able to lift and carry 75 pounds in a rugged alpine environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the snowmaking team and oversee snowmaking operations
  • Maintain and plan snowmaking infrastructure, including capital projects and budgeting
  • Ensure compliance with operating policies and regulatory expectations
  • Develop and implement strategies for improving snowmaking efficiency and safety
