What is the opportunity?

This position requires a comprehensive risk evaluation process to assess morbidity through health, financial, lifestyle, occupation, and personal history within pre-determined authority levels. The incumbent will work in a full production environment, aligning with product pricing and acquiring profitable business. Key priorities include high-quality client service and robust risk assessment.

What will you do?


• Offer superior client-focused underwriting service balancing sales objectives within risk tolerance and profitability objectives to contribute positively to persistency and reputation.


• Ensure timely competitive underwriting recommendations are made to RBC clients to place business consistent with RBC pricing and profitability objectives.


• Identify opportunities to reduce new business acquisition costs through modified offers, reconsiderations, and additional products on declines, postponements, or rated policies.


• Maintain audit results within acceptable ranges.


• Ensure the quality of underwriting decisions in all areas as determined through audits by management, GRM, Internal Audit, and Reinsurers.

What will you need to succeed?

Requirements include:


• Minimum 3 years of underwriting experience.


• Bilingual (English and French) proficiency.


• Analytical skills to synthesize complex information and research data.


• Problem-solving skills to gather and analyze information effectively.


• Strong oral and written communication skills.


• Teamwork to contribute to a positive team spirit.


• Motivation to demonstrate persistence and overcome obstacles.


• Quality-focused to improve and promote quality, apply feedback, and monitor work.

Nice to have:

Desirable skills include:


• Working knowledge of Disability and Critical Illness insurance products.
