Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Metallurgy Co-op Student to join our team at the Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC.

This role is a 5x2, Monday to Friday position, and is not a fly-in-fly-out opportunity.

Job Description

The Metallurgy Co-op Student will be responsible for applying their metallurgy knowledge to support the Metallurgy Department.

  • Perform daily reporting of operational data and KPIs, including crushing circuit, mill, and tailings availability.
  • Lead sampling processes in the mill, including routine and campaign-based activities.
  • Conduct tests in the metallurgical lab, including sample preparation, processing, data collection, and analysis.
  • Analyze data, report results, and draw conclusions.
  • Support mill maintenance by tracking wear components and scheduling replacements.
  • Practice safe work behaviors and participate in safety initiatives.
  • Follow all Company policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Requirements
  • Enrolled in a University degree in Engineering or equivalent, with a minimum of 2nd year.
  • Mill Processing experience is considered an asset.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office.
  • Possess a valid Class 5/7N driver's license and have access to personal transportation.
Working Conditions

The role requires working in a team environment with regular meetings, frequent driving in congested areas, and exposure to uneven terrain.

A Class 5 driver's license and a relatively clean driver's abstract are required for this position.

  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada.
  • Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements.
Compensation

The estimated annual salary for this role is between $58,000 and $64,000.
