Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Lineup Editor to join our team at CBC/Radio-Canada in Montreal. As a key member of our newsroom, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality radio news on weekdays, vetting copy, and presenting news headlines and updates in an interactive way on our morning current affairs radio show.

About the Role
  • Line up and read the radio news on weekdays
  • Vet radio copy
  • Do interviews, pull clips, and write copy to ensure our weekend newscasts are up-to-date
  • Present news headlines and updates in an interactive way on the morning current affairs radio show
  • Chase breaking news when warranted
  • Assign radio and digital reporters
  • Vet digital copy
  • Be prepared to host a radio news special in the case of big breaking news
  • Pitch original story ideas and angles
About You
  • You have a Bachelor's degree or the equivalent
  • You have five (5) years' experience in journalism or the equivalent
  • You have extensive general knowledge
  • You have in-depth knowledge of current events and news across the province
  • You have a connection to and understanding of Quebec's diverse and underrepresented communities
  • You have the ability to work effectively under pressure and deadlines, reacting quickly to changing priorities and breaking news
  • You have a deep desire to make the radio newscasts the best in the market
  • You have strong vetting skills for radio and digital copy
  • You have excellent reporting, interviewing, and writing skills
  • You have an engaging on-air presence and live broadcasting skills
  • You have thorough knowledge of the logistics of an integrated, mobile-first newsroom
  • You have a strong desire to live and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful work culture
  • You have the ability to cut clips from a variety of sources and edit for radio
  • You have fluency in the working language (English)
  • You have comprehensive knowledge of the other official language (French)
  • You have knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada's Journalistic Standards and Practices
