Job Description

This role involves contributing to the profitable growth and quality of the Commercial Real Estate Banking portfolio across Canada by participating as part of a coverage team in the development of complex credit solutions for Real Estate Investment Fund clients.

Activities include risk analysis, due diligence, deal structuring, credit pricing, negotiation, and credit application preparation as part of the 'Deal Team' with the Director and Head, Associate Director, and CSA.

The successful candidate will liaise with Global Risk Management through the credit decision-making process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Contribute to the profitable development of National Commercial Credit business by timely analysis, structuring, and preparation of credit/financial solutions proposals.
  • Provide prompt and sound recommendations in the analysis and presentation of credit proposals.
  • Restructure marginal proposals into bankable deals where possible.
  • Synthesize industry research and competitive analysis.
  • Analyze client business cases and proposals for reasonability.
  • Model building/development of covenant patterns/vetting and stress testing of projections.
  • Meet with clients and prospects as part of the 'Deal Team' (as appropriate).
  • Ensure accurate communication of terms and conditions of an authorization and supervise effective and timely implementation of same.
  • Review all credit authorizations to ensure accuracy, completeness, and clarity.
  • Execute and address issues surrounding adequacy, quality, and completeness of loan documentation and security.
  • Liaise with the client to ensure accurate execution and delivery of documentation prior to disbursement of funds.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A college or university degree in Business or other related fields.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Real Estate Banking, preferably.
  • Good credit skills and significant credit experience.
  • Strong assessment and analysis skills.
  • Strong accounting and financial analysis skills.
  • Good deal structuring skills.
  • Good understanding of customer profitability models.
  • Ability to build solid business case justification for deals.
  • Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Good communication skills (oral & written).
  • Good product knowledge.
  • Good industry knowledge with areas of specialization where required.
  • Strong financial modeling and computer skills, including Excel.

Working Environment

This role requires working in a standard office-based environment with non-standard hours being a common occurrence. Limited travel locally may be required.
