GFL Environmental is a leading waste management company that is committed to providing high-quality services to its customers. We are currently seeking a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to join our team in Cranbrook, BC.

As a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician at GFL Environmental, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet of vehicles and equipment. You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, repairing heavy duty equipment, and troubleshooting mechanical issues.

The estimated salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on heavy duty equipment, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements
  • Repair and maintain heavy duty equipment, including diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues with heavy duty equipment, including diagnosing problems and implementing repairs
  • Work independently and as part of a team to ensure the efficient operation of our fleet
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure that all work is completed safely and efficiently

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired
  • 1+ year experience as a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards
  • Follow detailed instructions, work independently and maintain accurate records
  • Willingness to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job
  • Exert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending and lifting items up to 100 lbs.
  • Use fine motor coordination with arm, hand, finger and leg dexterity
  • Ability to kneel, crawl and climb
