About the Role

This position at Legal Aid BC presents an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned Managing Lawyer to lead our Family Law Clinics. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing office operations and providing expert legal counsel in family/child protection law.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to manage the office, ensuring efficient delivery of services and high-quality outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff lawyers, promoting their growth and development within the organization.
  • Maintain a senior-level caseload while mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to the success of the team.
  • Manage expenses within established budgets and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Foster strong relationships with local communities, including Indigenous groups, and promote collaborative partnerships to enhance service delivery.
About the Candidate

We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in family and child protection law, accompanied by proven management experience and excellent supervisory skills.

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Membership or eligibility for membership in the Law Society of British Columbia.
  • A minimum of three years of management/supervisory experience.
  • Expertise in family and child protection law.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and maintain a valid BC driver's license.
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is competitive and based on the candidate's experience, with a maximum annual salary of $70,931.75 (Year 16) plus a 10% Staff Lawyer Benefit Plan, as per the PEA Salary Schedule.
