Job Summary

NCR Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Cloud Solutions group, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and administering cloud-based databases to support our digital banking services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement cloud-based database solutions using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Develop and maintain database automation scripts using Terraform or configuration management utilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database design patterns align with business requirements
  • Ensure database performance, security, and availability in a 24x7x365 environment
  • Participate in on-call support to manage and execute on incidents
  • Develop and implement software development requirements and implementation in terms of automating repeatable operations tasks
  • Define and manage configuration management of database and security standards and governance
  • Communicate technical and business requirements to both technical and business/Exec facing audiences
  • Partner with Engineering and product teams to ensure database solutions meet business needs
Requirements
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, MIS, or related discipline
  • 4-6 years of database experience
  • 3+ years of experience in public cloud implementation
  • Exposure/experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) as a discipline
  • 3+ years of experience with GCP and/or AWS cloud platforms and technologies (IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS)
  • 2+ years of experience in software development (DevOps and database admin automation)
  • 5+ years of datacenter technology, architecture, and operational experience
  • 5+ years of experience supporting PCI-DSS, ISO27001, SOC2 certifications
  • Demonstrated history of innovative thinking and delivery, including disruptive innovation
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in utilizing modern database and security tools
  • Highly organized
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
  • Excellent communication, meeting facilitation, and listening skills
  • Strong negotiation, team working, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Jira, Project Management tools, ServiceNow, Observability tools (Dynatrace, AppDynamics), PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
Preferred Requirements
  • Hands-on experience with database managed services in cloud (like CloudSQL)
  • Working knowledge of Terraform scripting to develop 'infrastructure as code'
