Baker Tilly, a leading association of Chartered Professional Accounting firms in Canada, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join their team in the Walkerton office. As a key member of the firm's assurance team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality financial advisory services to clients, including compilation and review of client information, working paper file preparation, and assurance engagements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Compilation and review of client information and working paper file preparation
  • Year-end planning for various clients
  • Supervising engagements and related tax filings within a paperless office environment
  • Completion of assurance engagements with teams of 1 – 4 team members
  • Identification of KPIs through technology
  • Identifying and resolving engagement issues
  • Training and mentoring junior staff on engagements
  • Preparation of Notice to Reader and Review Engagement reports
  • Preparation of personal tax returns
  • Ensuring the clients' satisfaction with the firm's services
  • Providing timely, high-quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations
  • Identifying and cultivating new service or tax planning opportunities for clients

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting and tax principles, as well as excellent technical skills in accounting software. A college or university degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, and a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in public accounting or a similar finance role are required. CPA designation or in progress would be considered a strong asset. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, able to inspire and convince others, and possess strong time-management abilities and self-motivation to work independently in a high-volume work environment.
