Psychiatrist - Traumatic Stress Injury and Concurrent Program

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals struggling with traumatic stress injuries and concurrent substance use disorders. As a Psychiatrist with our Traumatic Stress Injury and Concurrent Program, you will be part of a collaborative team that provides comprehensive care to patients with complex mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Clinically responsible for assigned patients, including admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, daily care, and discharge
- Provide clinical care, including diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders, concurrent substance use disorders, medication management, withdrawal management, and psychotherapeutic interventions
- Supervise and manage clinical/patient care, including daily rounds and individual assessments to ensure ongoing standards of patient care are met
- Complete documentation, including admission history, mental status, diagnostic impression, treatment plan, weekly progress notes, and comprehensive discharge summary
- Utilize computer medical administration, including EMAR, CPOE, and EMR processes
- Provide clinical guidance to the program and admitting department for referrals and admissions
- Ensure best practice standards of clinical care are implemented and maintained
- Facilitate group psychotherapy modalities and provide clinical direction to program development
- Perform ECT treatment as required and participate in hospital committees/forums, medical staff meetings, and quality assurance activities
- Supervise and mentor students and residents, support departmental research activities, and provide clinical support in the training of allied health care professionals
- Specialist certification in psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPS) or equivalent body acceptable to the RCPS (C) and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
- 3 years' physician experience in a similar role preferred
- Experience with diagnosis and management of concurrent substance use disorders is preferred
- Interest in working with complex and comorbid disorders, as well as ongoing learning and teaching to enhance patient care
- Adept at creating an environment that supports team spirit and collaboration across the organization
- Strong ability to create exceptional relationships with clients, patients, and customers
- Exceptional leadership and executive presence with strong business acumen
- Demonstrated ability to think and act with strategic and tactical agility, as well as effectively lead strategic and operational changes
- Strong ability to negotiate and influence with proven critical thinking, analysis, and complex problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly developed organizational and time-management skills
