Job Title: Community Language Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Community Language Coordinator to join our team at Nak'azdli Whut'en. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in preserving and promoting the Dakelh Language and understanding the history of Nak'azdli Whut'en.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with Elders and stakeholders to maintain positive working relationships and report to the Director of Language and Education and the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Organize language learning and cultural meetings, and conferences both internally and externally throughout the year.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Education and Language, leadership teams, and external partners to enhance language revitalization and cultural practices.
  • Liaise and maintain a positive relationship with all stakeholders, including funders and sponsors, Language Working groups, and venues, vendors, and facilitators.
  • Preserve and promote the Dakelh Language.
  • Apply for funding and manage funded projects.
  • Coordinate language-related activities and events.
  • Support the integration of language and cultural teachings in various settings.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of the Dakelh Language is an asset.
  • Excellent project and time management skills.
  • Advanced computer skills, adept in Microsoft Office, ZOOM, and MS Teams.
  • Attentive to detail and quality of work.
  • Experience in community engagement and facilitation.
  • 2 years of related work experience in community development, engagement, and/or facilitation.
  • Understanding and knowledge of Nak'azdli Whut'en stakeholder and community concerns, history, family, values, and way of life is an asset.
