The Wellness Teacher position plays a vital role in supporting our students' social-emotional learning and well-being. This role requires a deep understanding of trauma-informed practices, socio-emotional learning competencies, and multi-tiered systems of supports.

Job Description

This full-time position will provide related mental health services to general education students, as well as consultation and coaching to school leaders and teachers regarding issues of trauma, mental health, behavior, and community resources.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Wellness Team Manager and other members of the Network Support ISE Team to ensure exchange of best practices, coordination of efforts, and general support for the Integrated Special Education department.

Responsibilities

  • Create plans and goals to foster better mental health and positive learning environments for students at Tiers 1 and 2 on the MTSS system of Care continuum.
  • Monitor student progress toward IEP goal attainment (as applicable).
  • Provide culturally appropriate and sensitive school-based social-emotional and behavioral services, including individual intervention, group intervention, family support, and/or crisis intervention.
  • Serve as the wellness professional on the PBIS Team, ensuring the team uses data to create and address plans to further campus-wide positive behavior incentive systems.
  • Collaborate with and participate in coordinated meetings, such as IEP meetings, SST meetings, and MTSS meetings.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, and other staff regarding the student's program and adaptations needed to facilitate improved performance in the classroom or at home.
  • Lead parent training to teach skills in regards to supporting a student's social-emotional learning, behavioral supports, and overall wellness.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for student services provided, adhering to state licensing board and professional code of ethics compliance.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities, such as training, continuing education seminars, conferences, and reviewing up-to-date materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in psychology, sociology, social work, education, or related field.
  • Prior experience working with students with emotional and behavioral needs is highly preferred.
  • Commitment to Rocketship's special education inclusion model and overall mission to close the achievement gap within our lifetime.
  • Familiarity with socio-emotional learning competencies, trauma-informed education practices, multi-tiered systems of supports (MTSS), and restorative practices is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 annually, based on education and experience, plus excellent health and wellness benefits, 403(b) retirement plan, flexible spending account (FSA), and generous paid time off.
