Compensation: The estimated annual salary for this position is $65,000-$85,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus excellent health and wellness benefits, 403b retirement plan, flexible spending account (FSA), and generous paid time off.

Mental Health Specialist Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Specialist to join our team. This individual will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to provide mental health services and support. The successful candidate will have a strong background in social-emotional learning, trauma-informed education practices, and multi-tiered systems of supports (MTSS).

Job Responsibilities:
  • Create treatment plans and goals to address educationally related mental health services.
  • Provide culturally appropriate and sensitive school-based mental health services in the forms of individual, group, and family treatment, therapeutic case management, crisis intervention, and consultation services.
  • Collaborate with school leaders, teachers, and parents to develop strategies for supporting students with emotional and behavioral needs.
  • Develop and implement professional development training programs for staff on topics such as trauma-informed education, social-emotional learning, and crisis intervention.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to staff on mental health and trauma-informed practices.

Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid license or associate level registration for one of the following: social worker, marriage family therapist, clinical counselor, psychologist, school counselor (PPS credential), or school psychologist.
  • Highly preferred: PPS Credential in School Social Work or School Counseling.
  • Experience in elementary schools, working with students with a range of disabilities, and familiarity with special education and IEP team participation.
  • At least one year of experience providing mental health services in school-based settings.

About the Location:
This position is based in San Jose, CA, with the possibility of serving multiple school sites across the Bay Area. The ideal candidate will be able to travel between sites and adapt to changing circumstances.
