At iA Financial Group, we're seeking an experienced Risk Assessment Specialist to join our dynamic underwriting team.

About the Role

As a Risk Assessment Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately assessing risks to make informed decisions in line with our company's profitability and risk management objectives. This involves analyzing and interpreting medical and non-medical information for life, critical illness, and disability insurance.

We're looking for an individual with a medical background or related experience, or very good knowledge of the insurance industry. Strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit and assess risk on individual life, critical illness, and disability applications to establish appropriate and competitive underwriting decisions.
  • Analyze medical and non-medical information to identify potential risks and issues.
  • Take a holistic approach in the overall risk assessment.
  • Utilize underwriting guidelines and procedures to make informed decisions.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in completing underwriting tasks and processes.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to obtain additional information or clarify issues related to underwriting decisions.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of underwriting experience in the individual life sector.
  • Excellent skills in analyzing and problem-solving.
  • Customer-focused with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficiency in analyzing cases, including medical reports, to accurately assess risk and make daily underwriting decisions.
  • Advanced level of English is required for analyzing cases, including doctor's reports.
  • Proficiency in French is advantageous.
  • Ability to negotiate, organize, and multi-task.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under high volume and tight deadlines, delivering consistently high-quality work.

Compensation Package:

The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
