We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, corporate policies, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities- Manage environmental risk and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and industry standards.
- Provide regulatory support to internal business units, including hazardous waste management, dangerous goods, and contaminated sites.
- Oversee environmental consultant activities to ensure regulatory requirements are met without disrupting project schedules.
- Review proposals, cost estimates, scopes of work, and environmental investigation reports, providing recommendations to stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal business units, external regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as environmental or chemical engineering, environmental science, natural resource management, environmental planning, hydrogeology, or biology.
- Four to seven years of experience in managing environmental issues, preferably in the energy industry.
- Field experience with Hazardous Waste Regulation, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, and/or Contaminated Sites Regulation.
- Excellent strategic decision-making skills and technical expertise to make complex project decisions.
- Working knowledge of federal and provincial environmental legislation, regulations, and bylaws related to the energy industry.
