About the Role

Sephora Canada is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Merchant to join our team as a Category Development Specialist. As a key member of our beauty category team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive growth and profitability in our emerging beauty category.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement category strategies to achieve financial and strategic goals, including sales, gross margin, and stock turnover.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain excellent relationships with vendors, negotiate and lead assortments and seasonal products.
  • Manage compliance with government standards and maintain consistency with the US strategy.
  • As a people leader, mentor and foster a work environment that embodies Sephora's values while communicating strategic direction to team members.
  • Create and implement the overall strategy for growth and pricing with new product introductions and strategic expansion of current brands.
  • Develop and handle assortment and plan promotions, launches, and animations for brands.
  • Partner with the Planning Team to ensure Brand objectives are appropriately aligned to inventory investment.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the Education Team to develop and complete Brand training needs.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in retail buying, merchandising, or planning with a Bachelor's degree or College Diploma in Retail Management.
  • Proven track record of driving growth and profitability in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas with clarity, precision, and integrity.
  • Fluently bilingual in English and French is an asset.
  • Technical savvy with experience in Excel and other business tools.
  • Understanding of the Canadian marketplace and corresponding vendor organization.
