Job Summary

The Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist is a key member of the Shared Health Diagnostic Services team, responsible for supervising and providing technical assistance to a section within the laboratory. This role requires strong leadership and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and mentor laboratory staff to ensure high-quality results and efficient workflow.
  • Develop and implement quality control and quality assurance programs to maintain accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve laboratory processes and procedures.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to laboratory staff, including training and development programs.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
Requirements
  • Minimum three years' recent related work experience, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Technology program.
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM) required.
  • Strong leadership and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Advanced academic achievement, such as a Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Relevant courses or seminars in leadership, quality control, or quality assurance.
  • Fluent language skills in both French and English.
Working Conditions

The Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist will work in a laboratory setting, with exposure to all hazards and dangers inherent in working in a laboratory. The role may require working shifts, weekends, and holidays, as well as participating in standby and callback duty.
