Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Expert Software Engineer to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining large, complex applications and infrastructure.

About the Role

This role requires a minimum of 6 years of experience in developing and supporting highly available applications. You will work closely with our infrastructure and application teams to maintain and support our systems, as well as lead root cause analysis to identify improvements and drive implementation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop software following sound software engineering principles and lead investigations for production issues.
  • Provide production support and handle escalations during the day and off-hours.
  • Interface with Scotiabank infrastructure and application teams to maintain and support infrastructure and applications.
  • Lead root cause analysis to identify improvements and drive implementation.
  • Develop operational plans, processes, and procedures to improve service delivery and resiliency.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in developing and supporting large, complex, highly available applications.
  • Strong Java programming skills with Spring Boot and JMS.
  • Through knowledge of micro-service architecture.
  • Experience in developing SOAP/REST web services.
  • Unit testing experience for Java-based applications.
  • Proficiency with Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong problem-solving skills coupled with the ability to collaborate with and lead teams toward resolution.
  • Sound DBMS knowledge and understanding of network topologies and common network protocols and services.
