Civil Engineering Technologist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineering Technologist to join our team at West Hants Regional Municipality. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of our infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret blueprints to determine dimensions and material requirements for construction projects.
  • Assist in developing engineering specifications and drawings to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in field surveys, inspections, and technical investigations to identify potential issues and develop solutions.
  • Prepare construction specifications, costs, and material estimates to inform project decisions.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules to ensure timely completion.
  • Supervise or conduct field surveys, inspections, and testing of construction materials to ensure quality and safety standards.
Requirements:
  • Certification by a provincial or territorial association.
  • Proficiency in Geographic Information System (GIS), AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle heavy loads.
