The British Columbia Teachers' Federation is seeking a skilled and results-driven IT Manager to join our team. Based in Vancouver, this full-time position offers a competitive salary of $86,170.03 to $103,230.23.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced IT leader who can plan, organize, and oversee the operation of IT services and support across the Federation. As an IT Manager, you will be responsible for managing IT projects, allocating resources, supervising IT staff, and serving as a key point of communication with executive committees, management teams, and end-users.

About the Role
  • Collaborate with the Treasurer to forecast Federation needs and develop optimized plans and budgets.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and report potential benefits to the Treasurer.
  • Design, implement, and maintain networks, operating systems, server architecture, VPNs, firewalls, encryption, and network security technologies.
  • Assess digital delivery systems and recommend hardware/software upgrades to improve processes.
  • Conduct capacity planning for network bandwidth, storage, and applications.
  • Ensure operational viability of the LAN during all business hours.
  • Identify resources and build partnerships with IT suppliers, vendors, and consultants.
  • Manage hardware/software evaluations and vendor contracts.
  • Develop business cases for technology acquisitions.
  • Assist in preparing RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs.
  • Manage relationships with vendors to ensure cost-effective purchases and oversee warranties/service agreements.
