We are seeking a skilled Power Trader to join our Canada Power Trading Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing retail sales portfolios with hedging strategies, pricing, analysis, and trading related to the Alberta and Ontario power markets and positions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage retail sales portfolios with hedging strategies to optimize portfolio performance.
  • Develop and maintain retail pricing models to ensure accurate pricing and risk management.
  • Work with Mid-Office to verify daily P&L and position movement to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with the desk and Origination to price and manage structured deals brought in by Origination.
  • Develop, maintain, and update various reports as needed by the group and desk to provide detailed information and analysis to assist the desk and other groups.

Requirements:

  • Proficient coder of SQL, and an object-oriented programming language (Ruby, Python, VBA).
  • Advanced quantitative degree, preferably in Mathematics, Engineering, or related fields from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience trading financial and physical power markets, preferably Ontario and Alberta.
  • Strong analytical skills with strong IT and/or data management skills.
  • Statistical proficiency.

Working Conditions:

  • Open office environment.
  • Overtime required as business needs dictate.

  • Ability to work with customers and people at all levels of the organization.
  • Team player with ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Flexibility and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
