We are looking for a Short-Term Gas Trader to join our Gas Trading team. This role is responsible for procurement of ENMAX’s short term natural gas requirements of the retail and thermal load positions. Minimize price and operational risk by closely trading gas positions and communicating with the real time and term trading desks. The Short-Term Trader is responsible for optimizing the transportation portfolio by way of mitigating losses and maximizing contract utilization.

Major Responsibilities:
- Execute short term natural gas transactions with third party counterparties and trading platforms to optimize and balance daily, monthly, and seasonal positions in the AECO gas market, while adhering to internal position limits- Nominate natural gas contracts on TC Energy, ATCO, and APEX to balance ENMAX’s natural gas accounts daily, maintaining respective pipeline’s tolerance zones- Mitigate and optimize transportation costs within ENMAX’s portfolio- Accurately enter transactions and positions within corporate tools such as EKA- On-call weekends and holidays to assist and provide support for gas balancing requirements- Market natural gas forward positions to production companies, marketers, and banks to fill short daily index positions up to twelve months down the curve- Remain current and provide internal knowledge on regulation, industry trends, and market fundamentals by attending industry meetings and presentations- Work closely with real time power desk to ensure thermal requirements are profitably met- Communicating on a regular basis with third party contacts and constantly looking for new credit worthy counterparties to add to our portfolio

Education Required:
- Degree in Analytics, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science or other related discipline from an accredited University

Qualifications & Experience:
- 5 years’ experience in a trading and/or operations role- Alberta natural gas and power trading experience preferred- Advanced excel and programing knowledge- Experience and comfort dealing with negotiations- Daily analytics to transact spot, monthly, seasonal gas contracts- Exposure to Gas, Power, and Environmental Commodities considered an asset

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
