Senior Engineer Job Description

At Huawei Technologies Canada Co., Ltd., we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and optimization of our high-speed optical communication systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • System Design and Optimization: Explore and design cutting-edge technologies in DWDM optical communication systems, including system design, performance optimization, channel impairment modeling, and performance monitoring.
  • Device Impairment Characterization and Compensation: Characterize device impairments in high-speed coherent transceivers and design and implement hardware impairment compensation algorithms in ASIC DSP chips.
  • Collaboration and Solution Development: Work closely with DSP and ASIC design teams to provide solutions to improve the performance of coherent transceivers and systems.
  • Channel Impairment Analysis and Optimization: Analyze channel impairments (dispersion, polarization, e/o hardware, etc.) and develop end-to-end optimization solutions.
Requirements:
  • Education: PhD/Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics.
  • Simulation and Modeling Experience: Experience in simulation and modeling of OE components and optical fiber communications.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C/C++, Julia.
  • Experimental Experience: Hands-on experimental experience and skills in optical system testing, real-time and offline performance characterization for transponders.
  • Digital Signal Processing and Information Theory: Knowledge of digital signal processing and information theory.
  • Industrial Experience: Industrial experience in optical communication systems is an asset.
  • Machine Learning Knowledge: Knowledge of Machine Learning is an asset.
