About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fabrication Expert Lead to join our Design and Fabrication Services Branch in Vancouver. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to lead our fabrication team and contribute to the success of our research and innovation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a small multi-disciplinary team in a machine/fabrication shop environment, overseeing daily operations, including machining, welding, and assembly services.
  • Develop and manage project plans, ensuring timely completion and meeting commitments with clients.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the fabrication team, as well as clients, on manufacturing methods, health and safety standards, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements and priorities, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to Health and Safety standards and regulations.
Requirements
  • A successful completion of a 4-year apprentice program in tool-making or precision machining.
  • Red seal machinist certification.
  • Extensive experience (7+ years) as a working-level technician in tool-making or precision machining, with significant experience leading technical teams and managing projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Familiarity with CAD-CAM software and proficiency in using technology to drive project success.
