Job Summary
The Research Assistant/Technician 3 will provide critical support to a deprescribing guideline project led by Dr. Wade Thompson. This role involves contributing to the development of a clinical practice guideline and performing evidence syntheses, including systematic and non-systematic reviews. The successful candidate will design data collection forms, perform data analysis, and draft scientific manuscripts.

Organizational Context
The Therapeutics Initiative (TI) is an independent research organization within the University of British Columbia's Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology, and Therapeutics. The TI's mission is to provide unbiased, evidence-based information on prescription drug therapy. This position will report to Dr. Wade Thompson and Patrick Salame, TI General Manager.

Key Responsibilities

1. Complete ethics applications, amendments, and renewals.

2. Coordinate meetings, including scheduling, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.

3. Coordinate and complete systematic and non-systematic reviews, including data extraction and analysis.

4. Perform literature reviews and organize focus group sessions.

5. Field and track communication from study participants and research collaborators.

6. Plan and write scientific manuscripts, incorporating feedback from collaborators.

7. Use diplomacy and tact in dealing with sensitive matters.

8. Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements
This position requires a high level of self-direction, initiative, and professionalism. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team environment. A relevant technical program or university degree, along with a minimum of three years of related experience, is required. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, are also necessary.

Demonstrated ability to operate a range of office equipment and troubleshoot hardware and software issues is an asset. Experience working in a post-secondary research environment, including knowledge of UBC policies and procedures, is preferred.

Education or experience in conducting semi-structured interviews, qualitative data analysis, and knowledge translation is an asset.
