The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a skilled Journeyperson Welder to join our team in Slave Lake, Alberta. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Operating flame-cutting equipment to cut metal efficiently and safely
  • Fabricating parts and structures by bending, cutting, and binding metal components
  • Reading and interpreting work orders, including welding specifications
  • Performing minor maintenance duties, such as shortening chains or replacing belts
  • Stocking torch carts and ensuring equipment is in safe, working condition
  • Completing all required paperwork, including hot work permits, hazard assessments, and work orders

Working Conditions:

  • Exposed to noise, dust, falling debris, moving machinery, weather extremes, splinters, slipping, and tripping hazards
  • Lifting heavy, awkward objects and climbing on equipment may be required
  • Required use of PPE appropriate for the task and working conditions

Requirements:

  • A solid work ethic, eagerness to learn, and a team player mindset
  • Journeyperson Welder certification
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of industrial experience, preferably in a sawmill environment
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work at different heights
  • The desire to work a Thursday - Sunday shift schedule
