Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our Transmission Field Operations team as a Substation Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of AltaLink's transmission substations in Alberta.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, Inspect, and Maintain Equipment: You will be responsible for operating, inspecting, and maintaining substation equipment associated with the AltaLink transmission system, including 4160V-500KV substations.
  • Provide Maintenance Information: You will provide maintenance planning, scheduling, and status information to Altalink Control Center staff and recommend improvements or replacements.
  • Trouble Response: You will respond to trouble calls for stations facilities in the area.
  • Support Other Disciplines: You will assist and support other disciplines as required.
Requirements
  • Education: You must be a full-time returning-to-studies student enrolled in a related and recognized Technologist Diploma program, preferably Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • Licenses and Certifications: You must have a valid Class 5 driver's license and be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Skills and Qualifications: You must have proven ability and experience in the above-noted responsibilities, be competent and comfortable working with computers and spreadsheets, and have effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is around $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, eligible employees may receive a hybrid work schedule, access to a social club, and onsite parking and gym facilities.
