As part of our growing team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design of mechanical systems and/or components for traditional nuclear markets and new initiatives to develop nuclear technology and future nuclear-powered systems.
Key Responsibilities- Interface with customers and vendors on project execution
- Research and analyze customer requests, specifications, and data to evaluate design feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements
- Assist with test procedure development for systems to ensure compliance with design specifications
- Operate final tooling systems in customer facilities
- Provide input and direction to conceptual and detailed equipment design development
- Perform hand calculations to qualify systems and/or components against applicable codes and standards
- Prepare clear and concise design reports and technical specifications
- Drive innovation and new methods in the development of new technologies and nuclear systems
- Collaborate with senior engineers and other personnel to develop procedures, resolve project issues, and provide technical information to customers and vendors
- Develop project documentation and component specifications in compliance with the Westinghouse Quality Assurance Manual
- 5+ years of related engineering experience
- P. Eng. in the province of Ontario
- Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to lead meetings and give presentations
- Excellent problem-solving and time management skills
- Self-motivated and highly organized
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working effectively in a team environment
- Experience working in a quality program that meets CSA requirements
- Extensive experience in conceptual design development, design reviews, and engineering change control processes
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing techniques, welding procedures, and associated inspection techniques
- Application of relevant codes and standards applicable to the design of nuclear components and systems
- Experience interfacing with customer representatives and providing oversight of vendors
