At Acuity Brands, we're driven by innovation and a passion for delivering exceptional solutions. We're seeking a talented Senior Java Developer to join our research and development team, where you'll play a key role in shaping the future of our products.

Job Summary

As a Senior Java Developer, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying embedded Java microservices. You'll work closely with our controls and sensors teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet the needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities

Development

  1. Conduct research and technology watch on embedded software development and Java
  2. Use your creativity to solve complex problems and develop innovative solutions
  3. Work with source code management and project management tools such as Azure DevOps
  4. Participate in the integration and continuous deployment of applications (CI/CD)
  5. Actively participate in the exploration and research phases for product design

Team

  1. Participate in the development, planning, and review of software in a ShapeUp mode
  2. Collaborate with various teams during the development, planning, and pre-release phases
  3. Take a proactive role in improving design methods, tools, processes, and standards within the software team

Requirements

  1. Computer Technician or bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field
  2. Minimum 5 years of experience in software development
  3. Proficiency in Java and related technologies
  4. Knowledge of object-oriented design patterns
  5. Structured, methodical, and organized in your work
  6. Developed analytical thinking skills
  7. Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  8. Autonomy, leadership, and initiative
  9. English and French read, written, and spoken

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience with source code management tools, such as Git
  2. Ability to set up and track project documentation
