Brock University is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Co-op Transition Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our administrative professional group, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing student success by helping develop and implement comprehensive strategies to improve co-op students' retention and engagement at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a holistic co-op student retention and replenishment strategy aligned with the University and CCEE strategic priorities.
  • Provide individualized support to co-op students to ensure they are on track with both their co-op and academic progression and sequence.
  • Share and stay up-to-date with best practices in student retention and engagement, incorporating innovative strategies into department initiatives.
  • Foster partnerships with on-campus partners for early intervention and support to co-op students' success at Brock.
  • Identify and provide guidance and support to co-op students facing challenges and barriers, connecting them with appropriate resources and services.
  • Lead the development of year one co-op student engagement strategy, including events, programming, marketing, and outreach.
  • Manage co-op volunteer outreach to engage our co-op students as ambassadors for the programs.
  • Monitor and analyze co-op attrition rate due to academic performance to help inform the retention strategy.
  • Maintain the information database for qualitative and quantitative reports on the progress of co-op students' retention and progression.
  • Recruit, train, and provide supervision to student staff to support the co-op student engagement strategy.
Requirements:
  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline such as Psychology, Communication, or Education and completion of Mental Health and First Aid training.
  • 3-5 years of experience with co-op programs and/or academic advising or student affairs and 1-2 years of experience in a leadership, manager, or supervisor role.
  • Extensive knowledge base of Brock University and the Brock co-op experience.
  • Experience in client needs assessment and development of personalized action plans.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to change and work with ambiguity.
  • Solid understanding of the course calendar, course offerings, program requirements, prerequisites, and course sequencing for co-op programs.
  • Knowledge of applicable University rules and regulations, and departmental policies.
  • Solid understanding of Ontario Human Rights legislation and applicable disability legislation (AODA and FlPPA).
  • Proficiency with computers, including MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, databases, web applications, and customized Brock systems (BrockDB).
  • Proficiency with social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) and content creation tools (Canva, etc.).
  • Strong ability to persuade and motivate individuals to be receptive to constructive feedback.
  • Advanced conflict resolution skills with the ability to communicate tactfully and diplomatically.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships at all levels of the University and with diverse student populations.
  • Excellent judgment and capability for crisis management, including the ability to quickly evaluate problem situations, find, and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Innovative, flexible, and adaptable with a commitment to teamwork and integrity.
Preferred or Asset Skills:
  • A background or experience in counseling or psychology field.
Salary and Benefit Information:
  • Job Grade (K), Salary Scale ($57,400-$98,400).
  • Target Hiring Range: $57,400-$65,000.
  • This position includes full comprehensive benefits, including tuition waiver.
