About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HSE Manager to join our team at ANDRITZ Hydro Canada. As a key member of our site team, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe work environment for all employees and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement HSE plans and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and government regulations.
  • Support the Site Manager in HSE management and safety instruction implementation for workers and partners.
  • Act as the primary liaison with customer HSE organizations and provincial regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly HSE statistics reports.
  • Assist in the implementation and update of the health, safety, and environmental plan.
  • Identify and define control measures for risks through safe work procedures and job safety analysis.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and inspections, and record findings.
  • Provide assistance in tool-box talks and coordinate safety committee meetings.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, and perform root cause analysis on HSE issues.
  • Coordinate health, safety, and environmental aspects of site activities.
  • Provide introduction training and site-specific health, safety, and environmental training.
  • Coordinate required safety training on site.
  • Coordinate first aid rescue, first aid responders, and fire protection programs.
  • Propose immediate correction of HSE deficiencies and verify effectiveness of corrections.
  • Ensure OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, and COR programs are maintained at the site.
  • Support the execution of internal audits in construction sites and facilities, and coordinate external audits.
  • Coordinate with workers' compensation as required.
  • Collaborate with the HSE Advisor for business updates on the HSE management system.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in HSE management on a construction site or heavy industries.
  • University degree in Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of provincial construction safety legislation.
  • Experience in dealing with unionized environments.
  • Experience working on construction sites, particularly in hydro power plants.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Leadership skills and ability to work as a team player.
  • Proven auditor and trainer skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, sound judgment, initiative, and creativity.
  • Willingness to travel and flexibility with work schedules.
