At Universal Enterprises Ltd., we are currently seeking an experienced Woodcraft Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our construction department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality wood craftsmanship in all aspects of our projects.

About the Role

This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary of $60,000 per year, based on relevant experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will work a standard 40-hour week, with opportunities for overtime and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

The Woodcraft Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Preparing estimates of labour and/or material costs for various wood-related tasks
  • Reading blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
  • Preparing layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling and joining materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
  • Bparing, installing windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
  • Scheduling and coordinating work on sites
  • Instructing apprentices
  • Supervising other workers
  • Estimating costs and materials
  • Maintaining, repairing and renovating residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field
  • Efficient interpersonal skills
  • Team player
