At Techso, we are seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer for Sanitary Systems to join our team in Lethbridge, AB. As a key member of our process engineering team, you will play a vital role in supporting and leading the design requirements for client projects.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned engineer with 3-10 years of experience in the food, beverage, or biotech industry. If you have a passion for designing fluid and bulk materials handling processes, as well as sanitary process systems, we want to hear from you

  • The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • You will be responsible for participating in client needs and project definition, reviewing client specifications, and leading all project phases to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Your duties will also include developing conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs, drawings, and specifications; reviewing engineering deliverables to maintain high standards of quality and defining project risks.
  • You will conduct work in accordance with Laporte Professional Practice Management Plan and guidelines and write technical reports and analysis to support design submissions.
  • Additionally, you will review shop drawings for compliance, participate in the development of engineering standards, obtain proposals from suppliers and contractors, visit and survey project sites for project-related activities, and manage deliverables and project execution.
  • You will also work collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary design teams located in offices across North America, chair project team meetings, maintain a detailed understanding of local codes and standards applicable to the industry and projects, and suggest initiatives to improve firm operations and procedures.

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus additional benefits. Travel is expected for this position.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-10 years of progressive experience in process design for the food, beverage, or biotech industry.
  • Experience in designing fluid and bulk materials handling processes, including preparation of process flow diagrams, heat, and material balances, and P&IDs.
  • Experience in designing sanitary process systems, including piping, vessels, and CIP systems.
  • Familiarity with CFIA and HACCP requirements.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing is an asset.

Preferred qualifications include provincial (P.Eng) or state (PE) designation or eligibility, knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements, strong leadership, relationship management, and organizational planning and project management skills, independent judgment, knowledge of post-implementation continuous improvement efforts, ability to influence clients, suppliers, and peers, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and Revit.
