Newborn Medicine Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Newborn Medicine Specialist to join our team at The Hospital for Sick Children. As a specialist in newborn medicine, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to critically ill newborns and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct medical research on human disorders, illnesses, preventive or curative methods related to newborns
  • Prescribe medication and treatment plans for newborn patients
  • Refer patients for surgery as needed
  • Treat diseases and physiological disorders in newborns
  • Prepare research papers for publication and presentation
  • Study the nature, cause, and development of diseases affecting newborns
  • Act as consultants to other physicians on newborn cases
  • Order laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures for newborn patients
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in medicine from an accredited institution
  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification Examination
  • Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities
Work Environment

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and possess strong attention to detail. The successful applicant will also have a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and occasional bending, crouching, or kneeling.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $175,000 per year, based on industry standards and location. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including dental plan, disability benefits, health care plan, vision care benefits, group insurance benefits, life insurance, and pension plan.
