Job Title: Senior Specialist Software Developer

Telesat is a leading global satellite operator, providing reliable and secure satellite-delivered communications solutions worldwide. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Specialist Software Developer to join our team in Ottawa, Canada.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing cutting-edge software applications for our Lightspeed satellite network. This will involve collaborating with experienced engineers, participating in code reviews, and contributing to the development of software tools and frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop software applications using C++ and Python programming languages.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and contribute to technical discussions.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance code quality and adherence to coding standards.
  • Develop and maintain embedded software modules using Linux operating systems.
  • Assist in the testing and validation of software features to ensure functionality and performance meet specified requirements.
  • Collaborate with the team to lead and develop industry-leading embedded SW test methodologies.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Over 14 years of experience in software development and testing, focusing on embedded systems.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
  • Proficiency in using the Linux operating system.
  • High proficiency in utilizing C++ and Python as coding languages to develop embedded SW applications.
  • Cloud technology familiarity is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • This role offers a hybrid work environment.
  • Working conditions are generally comfortable typical of an office environment.
  • International travel is required.
