Job Summary

PM2CM, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to lead the effort in consolidating scope and cost for projects ranging from ~$25M to $1B+. This role will ensure projects follow the governance process and assist the Project Manager with receiving executive approval for projects throughout their lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools, as well as proficiency in computer-assisted design (AutoCAD) and other design, data recording, and analysis software.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Plan, schedule, and manage the process for gathering scope and cost for project aggregations at each stage gate from all disciplines.
  2. Analyze cost estimates to verify that they are in-line with historical benchmarks for projects with comparable scope.
  3. Investigate rationale and drivers for estimates that are out-of-line with historical costs or expectations with estimators from functional groups.
  4. Manage supporting documentation for stage gate updates and regulatory filings.
  5. Peer review project aggregations.
  6. Develop Cost Estimates for new Transmission & Distribution Substations, Rebuild/Expansion of Substations, Major Equipment Replacements, Protection Upgrades/SA3, and new Customer Substations.
  7. Prepare scope take-off based on Design Specification, Meeting Minutes/Scope of Work, and Electrical & Civil drawings.
  8. Estimate material & labor costs applying estimating standards for direct & indirect costs and prepare estimates into Cost Estimating Tools i.e., SCMT and InEight.
  9. Collaborate among cross-functional impacted stakeholders and utilize Engineering, Cost Estimating, Scheduling and Project Management knowledge to review cost estimates and obtain approvals.
  10. Perform detailed variance analysis for cost estimates at various stages of project lifecycle.
  11. Prepare & update estimates based on change requests for scope, cost & schedule.
  12. Complete multiple Peer reviews of Cost Estimates prepared by different Estimating team members to validate accuracy, scope, jurisdictional splits, and cost elements.
Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

  1. Minimum of ten years construction industry experience.
  2. Thorough understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
  3. Proficient in computer-assisted design (AutoCAD) and other design, data recording, and analysis software.
  4. Ability to read, interpret and understand engineering plans and schematics, and soils reports.
  5. Capability to visualize the finished grade production.
  6. Knowledge of Best Management Practices (BMP).
  7. Thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings.
  8. Thorough understanding of safety regulations related to assigned projects.
  9. Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  11. Ability to be both creative and analytical.
  12. Extremely detail-oriented and accurate.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required.
