The BC Public Service Agency is seeking a dedicated and experienced Child Protection Specialist to join our team. Salary: $67,493 - $85,339 per year, depending on experience.

About the Role

This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in your community by providing essential after-hours child protection services. As a key member of our After Hours Response Team, you will work closely with the City Wide Intake Team, Indigenous communities, and various cultural and community agencies to foster an inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessing immediate safety
  • Screening reports
  • Performing wellbeing checks
  • Extending safety and family plans
  • Serving court documents

You will have the opportunity to work independently in high-pressure situations, where your skills can directly help those in need and promote a safer, more inclusive environment for everyone.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Social Work or Child & Youth Care, and/or Master's Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare
  • One (1) year of experience in child protection and/or child welfare
  • Currently hold full delegation (C6) under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFSCA)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in child protection and/or child welfare
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities (First Nations, Métis or Inuit)
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Metis or Inuit) with the required combinations of education with experience
