Job Summary

We are seeking a Nursing Unit Assistant to join our team at Sechelt Hospital in Sechelt, BC. As a key member of our Emergency department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support.

About the Role
  • You will work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care, ensuring that clients receive the best possible service.
  • You will perform various clerical duties, including transcribing physician orders, communicating with other departments, and arranging client appointments and transportation.
  • You will assemble and maintain client charts, arrange for client admissions and discharges, and perform timekeeping functions.
  • You will also type and distribute technical reports and other materials.

About the Location

Sechelt is a charming seaside community located on the traditional territories of the shíshálh (Sechelt) Nation. Our hospital serves over 30,000+ residents of the Lower Sunshine Coast, offering a range of services, including Emergency care, Renal program-community dialysis units, Mental Health and Substance Use Services, surgical services, birthing for low-risk pregnancies, and imaging services.

Qualifications
  • You must have Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program, plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • You must possess strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and be able to deal effectively with others.
  • You must be physically able to carry out the duties of the position and have the ability to keyboard 40 wpm.
