Job Summary

The Government of Saskatchewan is seeking a highly skilled Silviculture Forestry Specialist to join our team in Prince Albert. As a Silviculture Forestry Specialist, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of provincial standards and codes of practice for forest renewal. You will also audit forest renewal practices of industry and government, and provide direct staff supervision and management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement provincial standards and codes of practice for forest renewal
  • Audit forest renewal practices of industry and government
  • Provide direct staff supervision and management
  • Consult with the forest industry and government staff on improved forest renewal practices
  • Conduct operational planning and research on forest renewal practices

Requirements
  • Knowledge of forest management and silviculture skills
  • Experience in forest harvesting practices and their impact on forest renewal
  • Knowledge of forest renewal practices in boreal forests and their impact on forest values
  • Ability to lead investigations, trials, and research on forest renewal practices
  • Valid driver's license and eligibility for registration as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF)

Working Conditions
  • Work a total of 37.33 hours/week, averaged over 4 weeks
  • Eligible for registration as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) within 3 years of commencement
