Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Telecom Project Officer to join our team at the Government of the Northwest Territories. As a key member of our Corporate IT Projects and Planning team, you will be responsible for the system programming, installation, setup, troubleshooting, and administration of all GNWT Telecom systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with all phases of Telecom projects, from inception through implementation, to evaluation and continued operations.
  • Understand business requirements for various Telecom services and support, and assist in the development of telecom solutions for TSC clients.
  • Work with TSC resources and/or clients to ensure that solutions are implemented, including managing project tasks, dates, and deliverables.
  • Apply project management methodology, including project planning, scheduling, communication, monitoring, risk management, and contingency planning.
Requirements
  • Solid knowledge of project management process, including project planning, scheduling, contracting, and supervision of professional consultants and contractors.
  • Understanding of telecom systems architecture and ability to work with contractors to plan and troubleshoot complex Telecom systems.
  • Solid working knowledge of Telecom components, practices, and operations.
  • Project Management Skills with knowledge and ability to implement established project management methodologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, with at least four (4) years of demonstrated project coordination experience and/or training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of project management in a northern environment.
