Job Title: Instrumentation Automation Technologist

Roquette is a global leader in plant-based ingredients and pharmaceutical excipients, seeking a skilled Instrumentation Automation Technologist to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Instrumentation Automation Technologist to ensure the efficient operation of all process control systems and OT network equipment within our plant. The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLC), as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a safe and productive working environment for people and equipment throughout the facility.
  • Maintain the integrity of the automation network architecture, hardware, and software by following specific Roquette methods and standards.
  • Ensure site OT network is secure and cyber security policies are followed and implemented correctly.
  • Responsible for OT network systems: design, control, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Manage local user and site bastion accounts, add a computer to the OT domain, install and restore a computer, install backup software & antivirus agent, schedule Windows patch installation, start redundant environment, authorize VPN access for an external partner, install and replace a network switch, start and stop virtual machine.
  • Work with safety implemented systems (design & control, implementation, maintenance).
  • Ensure domain administration for all servers, switches etc.
  • Ensure back up of OT equipment and regular maintenance is performed as scheduled.
  • Ensure correct design and implementation of the automation system.
  • Participate in the design, engineering, and deployment of new automation projects.
  • Perform a functional analysis and ensure process control requirements are properly.
  • Perform standard programming modifications based on change requests or process optimization.
  • Work with the automation department from global engineering.
  • Assist in development and commissioning of new and ongoing automation projects.
  • Provide support during hardware and software upgrades.
  • Follow ISO and GMP standards.
  • Repair or replace automation equipment that has failed.
  • Respects regulatory constraints and Roquette defined standards.
  • Integrate external and internal regulatory modifications.
Requirements:

  • Ability to self-start, plan, organize, document and followthrough on multi-task responsibilities
Technical Competencies:
  • Industrial automation network architecture
  • Microsoft Hyper-V host and virtual machine infrastructure
  • Distributed Control System (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
  • Different automation programming languages (Function block diagrams, ladder logic, structured text, etc.)
  • Implementation of industrial process control and automation
  • Analog sensors (PT, TT, FT, WT) and switches
  • Actuators (control valves, valves, variable frequency drives)
  • Analyzers and specific detectors
  • Fieldbus network (HART, Ethernet, Modbus TCP/IP)
Specific Requirements:
  • Must have a thorough understanding of distributed control system (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
  • Must possess well-developed computer skills.
  • Read and understand PIDs, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Able to communicate verbally in a professional manner.
  • On-call duties and Call-in required
Education:

Red Seal Journeyman or Technical Degree and/or equivalent working experience as an Industrial Instrumentation Mechanic, Instrumentation Technologist/Technician or in the field of Process control and automation. Equivalent experience will be considered.

Experience:

3 to 5 years of experience working in manufacturing or in the food industry in a similar role.
