We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Superintendent - Wastewater Treatment Plant to join our team at the City of Medicine Hat.
This leadership role provides guidance and ensures regulatory compliance to maintain the reliable treatment of wastewater.
The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge in leadership, planning, scheduling, coordinating and quality assurance in wastewater treatment plant operations & maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and oversight to ensure regulatory compliance and reliable treatment of wastewater.
- Develop and implement effective plans for wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance.
- Coordinate and schedule maintenance activities to minimize downtime and ensure efficient operation.
- Monitor and report on wastewater treatment plant performance and make recommendations for improvement.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Possess Alberta Level IV Wastewater Treatment Certification.
- Seven (7) years operating experience in a large municipal treatment facility including four (4) years experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Valid Class 3 with air Alberta Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- An equivalent combination of management approved training and experience may be considered.

The Wastewater treatment facility processes approx. 8,650,000 m3 of effluent in a year, diverting approx. 1,000,000 kg of solids from our river systems, and meeting provincial environmental approval requirements.
