Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team at Queensway Carleton Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide expert care to patients and families, utilizing evidence-based nursing practice and critical thinking skills. Responsibilities:
  • Establish and provide clinical nursing care to patients and families
  • Demonstrate critical thinking in the nursing process while collecting and interpreting data, planning, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of nursing care
  • Practice to the full scope of practice of the Registered Nurse within own level of competence
  • Have the knowledge, skill, and judgment needed to provide competent, evidence-based nursing practice that complies with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) Standards of Nursing Practice, QCH Policies and Procedures as well as the standards of care appropriate to his/her area of clinical practice
  • Demonstrate QCH values: collaboration, accountability, innovation, respect
Requirements:
  • Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • RN Diploma
  • Current BCLS
  • 1 year recent experience in an acute care setting
  • Emergency/Critical Care certification in progress
  • ACLS Certification
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and carry out verbal and written instructions in the English language
  • Ability to work effectively within the nursing and inter-professional team
  • Demonstrated computer competency
Preferred:
  • Recent Emergency Nursing Experience
  • Emergency Nursing CNA certification
  • PALS, TNCC, ENPC, NRP, CTAS, and NVCI
  • Experience with clinical documentation in an Electronic Health Record
  • Membership in RNAO, certifications, and associations related to nursing specialty
  • Experience as preceptor/mentor
